This old farmhouse, located in the hills around Lucca just 12 Kms from the town, is situated on a hill, close to the small hamlet of Valgiano, with views over one of the most beautiful landscapes in the area. The present owners have totally restored the property.
Their restoration was done with great taste and charm using authentic materials, including terracotta tiles and beamed ceilings. At the same time, the house is equipped with all modern conveniences.
The original structure, consisting of the main house, the old hayloft and a small barn has been retained. The English-speaking house manager lives at the back of the house in a completely separate apartment. She is available to cook or to give cooking classes in a private banquetsize dining room which has been restored to host both these services. She specializes in local cuisine using only the best ingredients (including olive oil made on the property) making each meal a high quality gastronomic experience.
Her helpfulness and knowledge of the Tuscan region are greatly appreciated and her suggestions are much treasured by the guests of Al Carli.
